Any hardwood floor can be a great investment as it adds a natural, timeless appeal to your home, along with warmth and style. Engineered hardwood flooring is an excellent alternative to solid hardwood flooring as it has more structural strength, and can withstand environments that solid wood flooring will not hold up in.
Engineered wood floor construction is made up of a hardwood wear surface, core layer(plywood or slats), and a support layer. The top surface wood is solid hardwood that is then glued to the core and then to the support layer. The core base runs perpendicular to the solid hardwood top layer and support layer which creates greater strength to the flooring product. This design provides better stability and resistance to variations in temperature and moisture than traditional hardwood flooring, meaning it can be used with radiant floor heating systems and in areas where temperature and humidity shifts can be an issue such as over cement.
Engineered hardwood flooring should not be confused with laminate flooring!
Engineered flooring is real wood flooring, but with some construction advantages.
Another great thing about our engineered flooring is that it’s available in wide plank styles up to 7 1/2″ wide and 72″ length planks, making it a big, beautiful plank floor.
The Gambit Collection is a sawn-cut engineered style construction.
While there are three different approaches to making engineered hardwood flooring from a lumber blank, experts in the industry agree that sawn-cut is superior. This cut provides the best quality, stability and visual appeal for both solid and engineered floors. Sawn-cut engineered floors allow for the thickest veneer with the highest degree of stability.
Sawn-cut is made by sending a blank through a multi-blade saw. This slices the blank into cuts that are perpendicular to the growth rings, creating beautiful wood grain planks unique to the sawn-cut method.
